Hello everyone! Hope you had a wonderful weekend and Holiday 🙂 We started our holiday with the annual Turkey Trot in Detroit. We love this race and each year more and more people seem to run the race. This year was especially fun because after the race we hung out downtown and watched the Thanksgiving Parade. Great to see so many families lining the streets of Detroit. The Lions were playing in the afternoon and the streets were packed with lions fans as well, so may tailgates parties! Anyway, the city was alive with excitement.

After the run downtown we rushed home to begin cooking. Our Thanksgiving dinner was delicious this year. We made the menu I posted on my last blog entry and we were so happy I found that sweet potato recipe. We did not miss the potatoes and gravy at all. And, of course, no meal would be complete without a good beer to serve. We enjoyed a Rochester Mills Brewery Euphorious Ale- a Michigan Maple Brown Ale. ABV: 7.7%- Delicious with a hint of maple which complimented the meal so well.

| These Roasted Sweet Potatoes were scrumptious and tasted just as good the next day warmed as leftovers.
We spend some time this weekend shopping for a new dining area rug. Came home with one from Macy’s as they were having a 75% off sale on select rugs. We chose this one, the one in the middle, and lived with it for two full days.
Each day we would wake and look at the rug…neither one of us was crazy for it. It just didn’t blend well with the colors of the adjoining rooms. We returned it and ordered this one.
Only 20% off but still a good deal. Slightly more brown than steal. It should look better and is much better quality. It will take a few weeks to get shipped- hopefully before the holiday. I’ll post picks when it comes in.
The rest of the weekend we spent with family. Olivia and Zach were in town for the weekend and we really enjoyed spending time with them. They are in full wedding plan mode now and it’s nice to see them working together.
