Giffy, 28-year-old almost finished with her doctoral degree in neuroscience from Stanford, is searching for solace.  Her depressed mother has recently come to live with her.  Both dealing with the grief of losing a loved son and brother to opioids, each finding their own way to grieve.  Giffy gets lost in her research, her mother spirals deeper in her depression.  

This story is beautifully written and would be a welcome read for a book club.
