I wanted to share with you what I did to solve a dilemma I had this year with our Christmas tree. Our Great room is the room we choose to put our Christmas tree in. You can view the tree from the front entryway, the dining area, the kitchen and the nook; so it only makes sense to put it in this room. The ceiling heights in the Great room are 10 – 12 feet tall. The tree I picked up from Sam’s Club last year was only available in 7.5 feet tall and 12 feet tall for the slim line. We need a slim line tree because we fit the tree into a corner of the room. I don’t like to remove furniture if I don’t have to and we need all of the seating for parties, so a slim tree in the corner makes the most sense. Last year the tree looked too short for the room even though the roundness of it was perfect. This year, I decided to add some height to the tree. I found this metal tub on Craigslist for $5.00. I knew I could prop the tree on top of it and surround the base with my tree skirt. It turned out better than I thought it would. Now my tree is perfect in height and in fullness. I added some very large ball ornaments to the bottom to cover the stem of the tree. When gifts are around the base you can’t even tell I added the metal tub because the tree skirt covers it entirely and now the gifts have something to lean on. 🙂 Additional thought, I can repurpose the metal tub for backyard parties this summer- perfect for ice and beer! Tree cost less than $100.00 at Sam’s club.
