DAK Living- Dave and Karen exploring the world!

Monday Mash-UP!

Another wonderful weekend folks!  We enjoyed the beautiful setting of River Ridge Resort in Stanwood, Michigan.  It was our annual “Beast of a Ride” bike ride and we were really looking forward to biking with friends.  We arrived on Friday afternoon and set up camp.  One of the riders, Mike, has a RV that is called the “beast” because it’s so big, I mean huge! His Sanibel camper is a fifth wheeler and is takes camping to the next level. Total luxury.

In the evening we had dinner at our favorite Antlers Fireside Grill in Canadian Lakes and enjoyed great beer and food.  We split the tower of onion rings as a beginning to our weekend.

We choose this trailer park because of its majestic views and close proximity to the White Pine Trail. The RV park is the cleanest I have ever camped in.  The pool is heated with wonderful views of the Muskegon River.  They have kayaks and pontoon boats for rent. They have full laundry services and a complete workout facility.  Tennis courts, volleyball, and basketball.  We don’t camp often, but this RV park makes me think that maybe we should 🙂

 Wonderful playground for the children.

On Saturday we had a hardy breakfast and headed to Sand Lake to jump on the White Pine Trail.  We biked to Rockford where we shopped and drank a beer at the Green Well Gastro Pub.

Next, we headed to one of our favorite breweries in Michigan, Cedar Springs Brewing Company.  They are famous for their Bavarian menu and German style craft beer, and best of all they are on the White Pine Trail.   We always order a plate of brussels spouts- they are the best we have ever tasted!  We all enjoyed the Kusterer Salzburger Marzen– a Salzburg Style Pale Amber Lager. SCHMECKT GUT!

Saturday night found us by a campfire with marshmallows and good story telling.  Overall, our ride was good this year, we biked 25 miles on the White Pine Trail and enjoyed some great craft beer and of course- enjoyed time with friends.  Looking forward to our next ride together 🙂 We should probably refer to this ride as the Beast and Brew Ride since this year we drank so much craft beer!
