A weekend in Bay City, Michigan

Another wonderful Michigan weekend spent with family and friends. We had dinner with dear friends on Friday night. On Saturday, we woke early got our run in then drove to Bay City for a football game at Saginaw Valley State University. Zach, Olivia’s husband, my son-in-law, was being honored by the Hall of Fame selection committee.

At halftime Zach was called onto the field to receive an award as an inductee into the Cardinal Athletic Hall of Fame.
In the evening Zach and the other inductees were honored for a special dinner and presentation at the Curtis Center on campus. It was a black tie affair. Zach was called to the stage and presented an award as they read his achievements.
These are just some of Zach’s accomplishments in Men’s Soccer:
- four-year Mens’ Soccer student athlete
- driving force in leading the Cardinals to the national championship match
- the NSCAA National Player of the Year
- the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Year and the Defensive Player of the year.
All while earning his BS in business in four years and his MBA two years later. It was a touching ceremony and I am so glad we were able to attend. We were all so proud!
Zach and his coach, Kale.
We actually had time to shop around after the football game and before the evening awards ceremony. Since we didn’t know how late the ceremony would be, we decided to stay the night in Bay City at the Marriott Courtyard. A beautiful hotel and spectacular grounds.
We shopped in downtown Bay City and discovered some amazing stores.
We want to go back and probably will in November to do some Christmas shopping. 🙂
We got home early enough to take advantage of the beautiful biking weather and logged another 15 miles.
How was your weekend?
