Monday Mash-Up!

Whew!  I needed a day to relax after the long weekend!  On Friday we took off to Cadillac, MI to enjoy dinner at one of your favorite restaurants.

We discovered Clam Lake a few years ago and whenever we are in the area we make sure to stop in and enjoy quality food with good craft beer.

We were carbing up because in the morning we were running a 10K in Traverse City, any excuse to drink beer and eat pizza!
The Bay Shore run attracts thousands of runners and this year they reached a total of 17,000 young and old who wanted to challenge themselves and be apart of this great run. We both finished in respectable times and enjoyed ourselves as well.
After the race we biked from Traverse City to Suttons Bay (a 32 mile ride). We were tired, but the trail is so well maintained and the trip is so pleasurable we just couldn’t go home without riding this trail.  There are many unique shops and great restaurants to choose from.

Suttons Bay

Beautiful shops along the main street

One of our favorite Michigan summer destinations!

We discovered a new brewery in Suttons Bay called Hop Lot.  What a great find!  This place offers outdoor seating and their own take on many types of craft beer.   Hop Lot has a  ¾ acre beer garden for guests to enjoy. The “Traditional German-Style Biergarten, with an Up-North Twist” includes a Cascade Hop Garden, campfires, picnic tables amongst tall maples, outdoor games, strung lights, outdoor stage and clear view of the summer sky-  and best of all it’s right off the Tart bike trail.  We enjoyed their Kittywambus– an Oatmeal Stout and Chainsaw– an English Brown Ale. Both were very good.
They have waitstaff that clears your table but you order your food and beer at the bar. You take your beer to a community style table and the food is brought to you.

We sat with a nice couple from Grand Rapids- We love GR and spend lots of time there so conversation was easy.

They grow their own hops

Cheers!  Hope you had a great weekend!
We ended up running 17 miles this week and biked 56 miles 🙂  Good week of exercise.
