DAK Living- Dave and Karen exploring the world!

Monday Mash Up!

Happy Monday Friend’s!  Another busy weekend.  Friday- hot tub setup and the beginning of relaxing at home!  I’ll write a blog post on the brand and placement of the hot tub soon.  We have already soaked in it twice and we love it! 🙂  On Saturday it rained all day- really all day.  It was just horrible.  We ended up at a friends house for a gathering.  It was so nice to get out of the house and see friends.  During the day we took naps, read our books, worked on the computer, paid bills…all the boring stuff that needs to get done.  So when the night time rolled around we were itching to get out.

I made Ginger Snaps to take as a dessert for the gathering.  They turned out so good.  I made them on Friday and stored them in the microwave under plastic wrap till Saturday.  The recipe is delicious and easy to make. The cookies were crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside.  So good!  The recipe is from the Decorator Bee blog.  I couldn’t find it on the blog so here is another recipe that is just as good.

On Sunday Dave ran part of the Detroit Marathon.  Many of his coworkers were running and he wanted to go downtown to support them and run with them to the finish line.  He ended up running 5 miles and felt so good he probably could have finished the 1/2 marathon.  He would have attempted it, but he had to meet me at the Old Shillelagh Inn to celebrate our anniversary.  We always write DAK and the current year on the wall in chalk, although this year we used a permanent maker instead.  The reason I didn’t run with Dave is on Wednesday I pulled a leg muscle and the Doctor said no running for the next month.  🙁

When Downtown you might as well enjoy the view.  Detroit is really making a wonderful comeback!

Stopped by Kid Rock’s bar/grill for a Bourbon Stout and some brussel sprouts.  Delicious.

That was our weekend, since I can’t run I have been working out on the elliptical.  Not as much fun but at least I can catch up on Bravo TV.

How was your weekend??
