With the libraries still closed, I have had time to read, which is the best thing about the pandemic. This month I began with The Chaperone written by Laura Moriarty, then moved on to The Book of Longings by one of my favorite authors, Sue Monk Kidd. I finished with The Boys in the Boat by Daniel James Brown and A Place for Us: a Memior of love, loss, and courage by Karen Draper.
A true story about America’s rowing team to win the Olympic Gold in 1936. The Boys in the Boat is a story about perseverance and I enjoyed it immensely.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this memoir. I felt many emotions as I read, but most of all, I felt the love of a mother to a child. Preston was born into this world needing lots of help and lots of encouragement. Because of Karen Draper and many others, we now have inclusion in public schools. All students should be treated equally in the classroom and all students deserve to be educated.
