Where is my summer going? Goodness, I can’t believe it’s the end of the month and the fall is right around the corner. The summer reading program has ended in the public libraries and now we are gearing up for Zoom classes with toddlers, teens and adults. Book clubs will remain on-line for now and inside the library everyone is required to mask-up again. NO fun. We all hate this environment and we are struggling in Michigan as our Covid numbers are increasing.
This month, among all the outdoor activities I do, I was able to read some good books. The Last Thing He Told Me was a good book, although I have not recommended it to anyone…I think there are other titles published this summer that were better. And I read The Personal Librarian written by Marie Benedict and Victoria Christopher Murray- this book I have highly recommended. It is very good. 🙂
On the non-fiction side of the library, I read Younger Next Year, Fit, Sexy, and Smart- Until you’re 80 and Beyond written by Chris Crowley and Henry S. Lodge. Written in a very casual, friendly dialog- very much like “pull up a chair and let’s chat about your health”. This book is written in alternative chapters, each presenting personal stories and antidotes. Each author speaking very candidly on topics such as sex and libido, exercising for strength and endurance, excessive drinking and overindulging appetites. A good book for the novice who wants to learn how to take care of themselves as they age.
