Monday Mash-Up

Another week gone and now into December.  Crazy how time passes so quickly.  We were busy as usual this weekend.  On Friday we ran 4 miles in the morning and afterwards began our Christmas shopping. Picked up a few items for Olivia and Lauren and called it a day, the stores are getting real busy already.  In the evening we jumped into the car, drove to the movie theater and saw two movies. We call these events Movie Marathons. Why see one movie when you can see two!  We decided on Arrival with Amy Adams, a very good movie- kept our attention, and Allied with Brad Pitt…much better than movie one.  So glad we saw it, I love anything with Brad Pitt.  Great chemistry between Brad and his leading lady-Marion Cotillard…rumors their relationship broke up his marriage??

On Saturday, after another run (4 miles), we baked a scrumptious dessert.  We were having friends over after a concert and we wanted to make sure to have something warm from the oven.  It’s getting pretty cold here in Michigan and at night it’s especially cold. The concert was in Lexington. It was a Carpenter’s Christmas and was pretty good, not great.  The lead singer sounded very much like Karen Carpenter but the backup singers were poor and the band not very talented.  None the less, the music reminded me of happy times sitting in the backseat of my father’s car humming along to the Carpenter’s.  We had a wonderful dinner at the Village Pub. Enjoyed an infused turkey burger with granny smith apples and white cheddar, balsamic onions, lettuce and tomato.  Delicious!! Washed it all down with a New Holland Dragon’s Milk!

Love the industrial vibe in the Village Pub
Lexington Theater is a wonderful space for a concert.

On Sunday we ended up at a furniture store and now are considering adding this chair to the Great Room.  Dave loves it, I do too, but probably shouldn’t spend the money right before the holiday.

And finally yesterday- we got new windows installed!  It was so cold in the house while I sat there and supervised the work.  I took a long HOT shower when they left.  The end result is lovely. We went with Marvin windows.  The crew was professional and when they left they took all of their mess.  I would recommend this company wholeheartedly.  How was your weekend??
