Monday Mash-Up

Had yesterday off and did not even get near a computer.  So nice to take a day off of technology once in awhile.  We had another KBS weekend!  We started on Friday after the painter left. We rode our bikes to Bar Louie.  Dave had called ahead and asked if they were serving the infamous KBS.  We rode our bikes because we thought if were are going to drink beer we had better get some exercise as well 🙂

KBS- Kentucky Breakfast Stout from Founders Brewery

Saturday was low key for me.  It rained most of the day so all we did was run errands and organize the house.  Frank, the painter, was there early and we tiptoed around him.  He finished in the afternoon and was out the door by 1:00 pm.  The rest of the day we cleaned and put things back into place.

Master bath is still being worked on.

Kitchen looks like this except we put back the contents of the cupboards.  The doors for the cupboards will be in next Friday…so living in constant flux till then.  After next Friday, I do believe we will have met our goals for spring (2017) house improvements. Originally we had this list for indoor updates this year:

1. Paint or stain kitchen cupboards

2. Paint or stain guest bath and master bath cupboards and add hardware
3. Replace Formica with granite in master bath, replace sinks and faucets
4. Paint both baths
5. Wallpaper guest bath
6. Add wainscoting to walls near rear entrance of home and up the stairs
7. Add glass door that leads to basement
8. Remove carpet in Great room and Study and add wood flooring

I will have updated pictures after next Friday when the last work crew leaves.  Wood floors are not happening this year.  Still deciding on wallpaper…hard to get Dave to say yes to that.  He feels it’s too permanent.  I’ll start to check out samples of removable wallpaper this week.

On Sunday, I did get a chance to finally see the movie The Light Between Oceans.  I watched it alone and I thoroughly loved it.  It’s just such a beautiful love story and brought up so many emotions…I cried so much- sitting there all by myself.  It felt good to have some alone time.  I highly recommend this movie.  I tried reading the book over a year ago and just couldn’t get into it, but I loved the movie. 🙂
