Happy wonderful Monday after a spectacular weekend! The weather in Michigan has been great- sunny, not too warm, with scattered showers…not bad for July. We are approaching crunch time here for the wedding with the festivities right around the corner. This weekend Olivia came home for her final doctors appointments and some last minute wedding/honeymoon shopping. I was so pleased that she wanted me to go with her, I eat up every moment I can get with her right now. I am a little melancholy when I think that my little girl is going to be someones’ wife. I am not ready to let go, or at least that’s what Dave says. He’s probably right, I just feel I need more time and now that both girls will be married, I feel like I need a new role in life besides mom. Oh well, I’ll get there, be patient with me.
This is the breakfast of champions that I have been enjoying daily in prep for the wedding. It’s very satisfying and keeps me full for 1/2 the day!
On Friday, I had the pleasure of taking KJ, Lauren, and Olivia to the Saginaw Zoo, a very child friendly zoo with a small train that KJ just couldn’t get enough of.
Friday night we stayed home and enjoyed a barbecue on the back porch- so nice to relax and enjoy a wonderful dinner that Dave made :), and while dinner cooked we sipped our last bottle of Founder’s Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Stout (KBS)
With our shrimp dinner we enjoyed Petoskey Cranium’s Crush
Saturday found us on a bike ride along Lakeshore Drive in Grosse Pointe. This bike ride is a favorite of ours because not only do you see beautiful mansions but the water views are stunning.
After our bike ride (a 15 mile slow ride) we headed towards Atwater Brewery. Grosse Pointe was closing off their streets for a free carnival for the residents.
Beyond these very large flower pots is Detroit.
I have to take pictures of libraries when I see them 🙂
Sunday was spent shopping with Olivia and picking up some last minute items. She needed earnings and needed to borrow something. She settled on a beautiful earring with a drop pearl and she borrowed my pearl and diamond ring that my mother gave me as a gift when I graduated from college for my Master’s Degree in Library Science. I am so happy that Olivia with be carrying something from her grandmother on her wedding day. I just wish my parents (both have passed) could be here to witness their beautiful granddaughter getting married. They would be so pleased with the young lady she has become and they would love the young gentleman she is about to marry.
