It’s time for cleansing again!
Each year, each change of season, Ann Louise Gittleman (M.S. , C.N.S.) suggests we cleanse your bodies of impurities to get ready for the new season. Gittleman believes that women should start fresh with a clean slate, cleansing our way to beauty with a clear-cut detox diet plan designed in harmony with nature’s seasons. She believes the first step toward a healthier, more radiant you, begins with a detox.
A little about the Gittleman Detox Program:
Gittleman suggests we begin each season with a minimum of three-day detox program- I usually stay on this program for two weeks. I feel it really works for me to cleanse and detox the longer I stay on it. Throughout the detox phase you need to include in your diet: therapeutic oils, lean protein, seasonal vegetables, seasonal fruits, the Living Beauty Elixir, fiber- rich supplements, and purified water. This is a very commonsensical diet/detox plan that really works. You will notice you will have more energy, your hair will be shinier, nails stronger, and complexion clearer.
Basically, you need proteins for lean muscles and energy. The oils are essential for lubrication. Seasonal fruits and vegetables to help fill you and provide vitamins. And the Living Beauty Elixir (made up of unsweetened Cranberry juice and a green super-food mixture will help detox your liver, cleanse your urinary tract, and cleanse your lymphatic system. The Cranberry juice helps cellulite do a disappearing act as well 🙂
So as we enter the autumn season, September 22, the days are shorter and the nights are cooler. This is the ideal time to concentrate on home and family and begin to slow down- storing your energy for the upcoming cold months. Emotionally, we need to learn to let go and open ourselves up to change as we pause to reflect inward. Physically, we need to take special care of the two vital organs of the season, the lungs and large intestines. Lungs are the first line of defense against unhealthy air and the large intestines need to be cleared of bad toxins that aggravate the colon.
Along with making dietary changes, the seasonal diet/detox for autumn consists of drinking fenugreek tea (there is a separate tea for each season). Fenugreek tea is effective in softening and dissolving mucus in the lungs and moistening the intestinal tract to prevent constipation. You will be drinking two cups of this tea each day. I found mine at a health food store. I checked on-line and Walmart and Amazon sell it too.
Along with drinking two cups of tea you will need to season your foods with cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, and anise, which are aromatic but also help prevent indigestion, gas, and cold hands and feet. The autumn tea, herbs, and spices all help to support intestinal and respiratory function.
Here is a sample of the autumn Detox Plan:
Wake with a Living Beauty Elixir and 2 high fiber supplements, 2 eight-ounce glasses of water
Before breakfast– 1 cup of fenugreek tea
Breakfast- ½ cup of warm applesauce- sugar free, ½ cup cooked quinoa with ½ tablespoon of flaxseed oil, 1 ounce chopped filberts (hazelnuts)
Midmorning– 2 eight-ounce glasses of water
Lunch– 4-ounce grilled chicken breast, braised brussel sprouts with pearl onions and dash of nutmeg and 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, Mixed green salad with autumn vegetables and greens, ½ teaspoon sesame oil
Midafternoon– 2 eight-ounce glasses of water
4 P.M.-1 ounce goat cheese, 1 medium pear
Dinner- 4 ounces fish, Salad with ½ teaspoon sesame oil, ½ cup of acorn squash, 3 tablespoons of sauerkraut and 1 teaspoon of anise seed
Midevening– 2 eight-ounce glasses of water
That’s it. You can see there are no carbs in this diet/detox plan. She suggests we don’t drink coffee ever– but that is not realistic for me- I need coffee daily- three cups to be exact. No sugar or flour. You may eat any protein you desire as long as it is a small portion. She wants us to eat the entire egg as a protein. You can eat all the vegetables you want and two small portions of fruit each day. After the two weeks or however long you decide to detox, you can start to slowly introduce other foods into your diet. Gittleman suggests that if you do reintroduce bread try to go with a sprouted grain bread such as Ezekeil 4:9 sold at Costco in the freezer department and Kroger. I love this bread toasted in the morning with a teaspoon of almond butter and a hot cup of coffee. I will be giving my morning ritual of toast or steel-cut oatmeal up for the two weeks but will return to it when the cleanse is done. I think the idea here is everything in moderation. Try to eat clean and healthy and try not to drink alcohol. This last part is difficult for me- Dave and I both love our craft beer:)

| This was in my stomach Thursday night 🙂 I love pumpkin beer, but I will give it up for a few weeks while I get my system back on track. |
Here are some sample pages from the book:

| A typical breakfast for me, but not for the following two weeks, no carbs 🙁 |
Let me know if you need additional information. I will begin this diet/cleanse on Monday, September 25, as we already have dinner plans for the weekend that will include craft beer.
The Living Beauty Detox Program, Ann Louise Gittleman is available on the Amazon site. She also has a webpage with additional info on the program.
Keep me in the loop. I will have updates for you all next week and the week after. Good Luck!!

I very much like the way you have provided some extremely useful information about cleansing carried out in Autumn. Thanks for sharing some extremely useful and effective information. By the way let me share my personal experience regarding a product which I recently came across in course of my weight loss journey. The product named "The Red Tea Detox" is said to be extremely beneficial in reducing weight and many people have claimed to have reduced 14 pounds in 14 days. it’s a detox diet that uses a special tea recipe to help accelerate fat loss. That’s really amazing isn’t it?
