So many people have inquired about the cleanse I wrote about a few weeks back that I thought I better tell you how it’s going for me. It’s going very well. 🙂 I’m “on board” the cleanse train and feeling good!
Here’s the skinny:
All of my meals contain a small protein, fruit or vegetables. I am staying away from most carbs, although I have toast some mornings and I have enjoyed a few beers within the last few weeks- we can blame Dave for the beer drinking.
My breakfast today was coffee, sprouted whole grain bread with organic peanut butter. I toast my bread till it is very dark then I spread on a teaspoon of peanut butter and drink hot coffee to wash it down- nothing better! I buy my bread at Costco but you can also order it on Amazon. The peanut butter I use is also from Costco, it’s the Kirkland Organic Peanut Butter.
After breakfast I usually exercise. I hurt my leg the other day and the doctor said no running for an entire month, so now I use my elliptical for 45 mins. as I catch up on Housewives of the OC on Bravo. Weights after that and then I’m ready to start the day.

Lunch and dinner is composed of chicken, tuna or salmon with lots of vegetables, although in the fall I am adding sauerkraut into my dinner or lunch menu. Costco sells a large container and it is sooo good warmed in the microwave.
As for snacks, I will usually have a small apple or large handful of almonds, also from Costco.
These are the daily supplements I am taking. Fenugreek is taken in the fall months only. This comes in a tea form and originally I was going to use that but changed my mind as I like to have Orange & Spice tea as a dessert each evening. The tea helps to curb my craving for something sweet after dinner. The Vital Proteins are amazing for hair growth and strong nails. I also swallow down a glass of pure cranberry juice mixed with water and 1 tablespoon of Psyllium Husk powder after breakfast and dinner. This stuff really fills you up and cleans you out 🙂

The cleanse that I am following, which could really be a daily lifestyle type of diet, is from the author Ann Louise Gittleman. Her book is titled The Living Beauty Detox Program and is available on the Amazon site. She also has a webpage with additional info on the program.
Additionally, I am drinking lots of water. Someone told me recently that we should drink 1/2 our body weight in oz.’s a day, so if you weigh 150 lbs. you should drink 75 oz.’s of water per day. Yikes, that’s a lot of water. Have you ever heard of this before?
If you read the original post on the fall cleanse you would notice that I am doing a modified cleanse. I am kinda making it up as I go along. For instance, this weekend I am going to a family gathering and I know already chili is the main course. I will eat the chili but I will stay away from the breads and desserts. A girl’s got to live and plus I am doing this cleanse as a way to rid my body of bad toxins that build up over time. As long as I get back on the train as some point I should be good to go and continue to lose weight and stomach fat. I should add that I have lost a few pounds and my clothes are fitting better, but most of all I feel good and sleep great. I will probably adhere to this lifestyle/diet till Christmas time.
Have you been completing a fall cleanse? How is that going for you? I would love to hear your thoughts!
