Catching Up!

Hi Friends!  Another weekend in the books!  We are feeling very refreshed after a relaxing weekend. How are you feeling on this cold, wet Monday?  In Michigan, we are anticipating more snow and ice tomorrow- schools will probably be closed again. 🙂  I love when that happens-nothing like a snow day!  Anyway, this is what we did to keep ourselves busy this weekend.

On Friday, Dave had some errands to complete so I signed up for an Orange Theory 3G class.  It kicked my butt, but I felt so good all day afterwards.  I just LOVE Orange Theory- they really do offer the best workout for your money.  We stayed home for dinner, which is unusual for us on a Friday,  but we are trying to eat out less when we are home and not traveling- it’s less money and less calories.  All I did was put some chicken in the crock pot and served up some steamed veggies- super easy and tasty. 🙂

On Saturday, after our morning fireplace chat while drinking our coffee, we ran 3 miles and enjoyed the hot tub.

We also managed to measure for the new shelf we are considering ordering for the newly renovated laundry room.  This is the before and after of the room.

This room needed some love, don’t you agree?  The only thing we were keeping in this ugly laundry room was the floor and the light fixture.  I knew some dramatic wallpaper would take this room from drab to fab. Although Dave hates wallpaper, we agreed I could wallpaper two rooms- the small guest bath and the laundry room.  Since I couldn’t replace the flooring, it’s throughout half the house and is in good shape, I decided to get the same effect of tile by adding the look in the wallpaper feature wall.  (excuse wallpaper hanger guy)

The wallpaper looks just like an aged tile and it was much cheaper than replacing the flooring while giving me the effect I really wanted.  The Mediterranean tile wallpaper is from York Wallpaper.  I am in love with it!

I found this picture on Pinterest and kept it close by when I was ordering materials for the room. I love the tile floor and the use of black paint on the trim and door.  I also like the wood tones in the room and hope to incorporate some of those on the shelf and in decorations.

This is how the room looks now minus the new stainless steel shelf we just ordered on Esty.  We painted, added trim on the window, ordered a new washer and dryer from Costco and a new stainless steel laundry sink also from Costco.  The sink is featured on the Costco magazine this month.  The bench and shelf are years old and we ordered them through Home Depot.

New shelf will go above the washer and dryer.

We had two new glass doors installed a few weeks back from Lowes.  The hallway leading to the laundry room is dark and I wanted the light from the window to help lighten up the hall.  The doors still have the film on them because our painter has not yet painted them.

So even when the door is closed the light shines through the glass door and the feature wall is visible.

We ended up keeping the old fixture since it works fine and it fits the decor. So that’s a lot of pics of a little old laundry room.

On Sunday morning we cycled with Eman again, burning another 400 calories!  He makes getting out of bed worth it:).  Dave ran another two miles while I made a vegetable soup in the crock pot. We ended up finishing the series we were stuck on- Chance. We thoroughly enjoyed the series on Hulu and are disappointed there will not be a season three.

That’s it friends.  I hope you had a wonderfully relaxing weekend also.
