Recap of January 2021

So long 2020…

A year like no other…living through a pandemic was not on our bucket list and yet, here we are. On New Year’s Eve or shortly before, Dave and I find ourselves on a bar stool making plans for the upcoming year.  These plans can be quite extensive.  We like to talk about what we accomplished the previous year and what our goals are for the next year.  We include travel goals, house goals, personal goals, and couple goals.  Since we couldn’t leave our house this year, we sat at home and celebrated by ourselves…just wasn’t the same and it was tough to get a list together.  WE did end up making a video and had a great time doing it.  But we miss the adventures that we usually plan.

So, by the time January hits, we have a long list of vacations to plan, updates to our house in the books, weekend biking or running events already scheduled…and this year we have none of these.

Since we have been together, we’ve traveled to a warmer climate in the winter months.  We miss Miami!  We usually plan a trip to Europe for the spring.  We miss Budapest and Munich!  Our kitchen needs updating, and we don’t have a contractor scheduled yet…just not much fun right now.

We need our vaccines and we need our country to take Covid seriously so we can all get back to our normal lives.

Anyway, the other day, Dave sensed that I was getting a little down and suggested we go for a drive.  We ended up in St. Clair and had a wonderful trip.  It was very thoughtful of him to plan a day for me.  I love him for that, he is always trying to make my days brighter 🙂

During these long days of Winter, we have watched countless hours of TV.  Played more than enough games of Sequence and Scrabble.  Dave bought a keyboard and I am teaching myself how to play piano with YouTube.

We have not ordered a meal out in months, which to be truthful has been nice.  WE plan out each meal and take turns cooking.

We have saved lots of money not shopping as well.  Since there is nowhere to go, I have really saved on not buying clothes and shoes.

We have been having fun with garage band and loved making this video.

So another year begins and we are optimistic that we will survive this pandemic and see our families soon!

Much love,

DAK
