How far would you go to protect your child? Would you hide evidence? Would you lie to the police?  This is the situation Adam and his lawyer wife Ulrika find themselves in.  Their daughter, 18-year-old Stella, is a complex character with many problems, one being she was sexually assaulted as a child and that was never dealt with.  It seems that it should have been, because now the trauma is rearing its ugly head.  When Stella is arrested for the murder of her 32-year-old boyfriend Chris, her parents go to great lengths to cover her tracks and try to keep her out of prison.  A lengthy court trial begins and reveals the truth and the hidden secrets.

I cannot express enough how much I enjoyed this book and the intense courtroom drama.  This is an excellent choice for a book club.
