Petoskey, Bay Harbor, Boyne City, Charlevoix, and Harbor Springs (Sept. 11-14, 2021)
Our first venture to the Petoskey area this year proved to be both fun and relaxing. The weather was overall a bit cooler than southeast Michigan but still nice (mostly in the low 70’s).
We spent our first night in an upgraded suite at the Courtyard by Marriott. The room was very nice and we wound up eating on the patio using our food vouchers at the hotel’s Bistro. My Beyond Burger and Karen’s grilled chicken salad were both very satisfying.

On Sunday we moved to the Inn at Bay Harbor (one of our favorite places) and to our surprise our upgraded reward’s night suite with balcony was ready for us when we arrived in the late morning.
Inn at Bay Harbor - Wedding
The hotel was hosting an elaborite wedding in the afternoon with the reception that evening. The music did keep us up at night until it ended at 11:00.
Every morning we were excited to go down for the included breakfast at the Inn. It has to be the best of any hotel we’ve ever stayed (top quality, very fresh, and a great variety of items from fruits, oatmeal, pastries, made to order omelettes, pancakes, potatoes, meats, etc.).

Taking a break half way to Charlevoix along the Little Traverse Bike Trail
On Sunday, we rode from Bay Harbor to downtown Charlevoix. Nice biking weather.
That evening we drove to Boyne City to dine at Cafe Sante’ (another favorite!).

On Monday, we ran and then biked from Petoskey to Harbor Springs. It was a perfect weather day, so we jammed as much outdoor fun as we could.
While in Harbor Springs we made a last minute decision to take a boat ride on the Pointer. It was a restored water taxis from the 1930’s that now takes 12 passenger’s on an intimate hour history tour of the area. We learned quite a lot and the scenery, water, and weather were perfect.
We rounded out the day at the Side Door Saloon in Petoskey. Karen had whitefish with a Blood Orange beer from Cheboygan Brewery and I had a burger with a Marzen from German brewer – Spaten.
