On a personal note, I have been a librarian for 20 years and I have loved every moment of my career…
I started as a High School Librarian (Media Specialist), then moved on to the middle school level where I spent a few years getting to know young adult literature. After that, I moved into an elementary position and loved reading to young children and watching them get excited about books. I have taught and influenced many young people in my lifetime and for that I am very grateful. Now as a retired School Librarian, I am continuing my service as an Adjunct Librarian in a college library and I also find time to work a few shifts in the public library. I can’t say which type of library I prefer; school, college, public- because I enjoy them all. I feel blessed to be able to be one of those who can look back and feel proud of their contribution. I don’t mean to sound boastful, but I am so happy with my career choice and proud to be able to call myself a Librarian.
Dave has enjoyed a career utilizing his marketing degree and his MBA. He is still working full-time and then some, so he only contributes when he can on the blog.
Some more about me:
I can’t go a day without reading. In fact, if I don’t have a stack of books to read on my nightstand I start to panic.
I have a very old leather-bound copy (1919) of Madame Bovary that I bid on at auction. It is my prized possession.
I love World Literature and one of my favorite stories is Beowulf.
My favorite short story is Hands by Sherwood Anderson. You can read it here.
One of my favorite fictional books is She’s Come Undone by Wally Lamb.
If you have questions about my career choice and have thought that maybe you would like to work in a library, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I would love to help you realize your dreams.
