Friday Inspiration!

Another week in the books!  Hard to believe we are heading into the crazy holiday season already.  Have you started listening to Christmas music yet? I have and I’m not embarrassed to admit it!  I love the season, but mostly I love the time spent with family.

Even though I am secretly listening to Christmas music, I refuse to decorate the house with tinsel until November 24.  On the day after Thanksgiving I start to scratch the itch that makes me want to deck the halls.  But until then, I relish the fall decorations.  Over the years, I have collected lots of “stuff”. Dave says too much stuff, but I disagree.  Having stuff to pull out and place around is what I’m all about.

I will keep the silver pumpkin in the guest bath till after Thanksgiving.

This room will look festive soon!

Anyway, lets look at some beautiful fall attire for houses!

1.  SunnySideupBlog.com.  I would describe Erin’s style as clean and crisp.

There are so many beautiful blogs out in blog land.  Each time I visit one of the above blogs I get inspired to make my home more welcoming.  I  hope you are enjoying a little Friday Inspiration!

Make it a great weekend and I will see you back here next week!

Note:  I am back to running!!  I ran a few miles a few days this week and felt pretty good.  My injury appears to have healed.  This weekend I hope to get lots more miles in with lots of strength training.

Friday Inspiration!

Hi friends, just popping in to share a wonderful place we went to last night for dinner.  It’s called J Baldwin’s, a local restaurant near Detroit.  I loved the decor and the food was good.  We sat at the bar and enjoyed some happy hour prices.  I ordered the fish tacos and Dave ordered the beef sliders and we shared an order of brussel sprouts.  We each had a wonderful craft beer, Mountain Town Train Wreck Ale, 8.2 ABV.  The happy hour prices and food menu were definitely worth the money.  My fish tacos were only $5.00- a bargain.  Anyway, I took some pictures of the decor- Enjoy!

Love the different plate colors on the tables.

The decor is rustic chic.

White plates adhered to the wall with messages written in black sharpie, so easy.

We had a nice time there and will probably go back for the happy hour.  After our dinner we headed to a local library for a discussion on craft beer.  The author of the book Brewed in Michigan, William Rapai, was there to present his findings of an 18 month tour of Michigan and the craft beer industry.  We had lots of samples of different types of beer with discussions on each.  If you follow our blog you know we are all about craft beer and so it was nice to hear that Michigan is number 11 in the industry.

We are fortunate to have over 3oo craft breweries in Michigan.  I don’t think we could narrow our favorite to just one, but Dragonmead’s Final Absolution Trippel is on our top ten list and the audience was happy to enjoy a sample of it last night.

Libraries work very hard to draw in the community.  They offer wonderful programming for the entire family, from free computer classes to discussions on Ancestry.com. I am so proud to call myself a Librarian, and I feel privileged to work with the public.  Where else can a person go to get a book, movie, CD, enjoy a story time with their children, and go to lectures on topics like craft beer??  Libraries are a good thing and I hope they never go away.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Fall Decorating Inspiration!

I wish I could claim that I am an expert in decorating a home- I’m not, but I sure do enjoy putting things around the house and taking pictures!  Here are a few as of late.  I should point out that I take all pictures with my phone and by no means do I claim to take good pictures. 🙂

 Centerpiece on kitchen table.

Gold theme this year in living room.

Guest bath.

Take a look at a fellow blogger’s home. Haneens Haven is the name of the blog and Haneen has an art degree and a keen eye for design.   She is not afraid of color, unlike me.

Love her mantel.

Some fall decor inspiration!  What do you do in your home to celebrate the different seasons?  I would love for you to share some of your pictures.

Have a wonderful weekend!!
