Even though summer is definitely over in Michigan, I can’t help but think I need to cruise on over to Target and Walmart to see what they have on summer clearance. I always look for items after the season to save money. I am so happy I looked at Target’s clearance because they have this patio pouf on sale for under $30.00. And Walmart has outdoor pillows on sale as well. I have decided that next year is the year of the” back patio.” We really need to focus on getting it in shape. I watched a video of Emily Henderson from the Target website and I wanted to create pretty much what she did. I love how she mixes textures and different patterns.
Costco has outdoor hanging lights on sale this month, so I plan to pick up at least one strand of those, and of course lots of candles for the table tops.
I ordered these pillows from Walmart. They are larger (20 x 20) and will be a nice addition to the sofa we have on the back patio.
These are similar to pillows I already own, so I’ll pass. (Walmart)

This pillow is on sale at Target for under $9.00. I love this pillow and it goes along with our lifestyle 🙂 I paid full price in June, darn it!
I still need to think about beige and white striped outdoor curtains and a colorful rug. More shopping yet to come!
I took these photos in early June before we had a covered awning installed. We had to move some of the furniture out of the way for the builders.
We had something like this pergola added on the back porch in late June.
You can see we need to have exposed aggregate installed over the top of the existing cement slab. More color is needed as well. I hope to achieve that with some to the new purchases. I really love the idea of blue on the back patio. It’s such a calming color and it goes well with the existing beige cushions. In the picture below you can see the pull down screen on the patio…love the privacy it provides as well as blocking the sun. Patio furniture was all purchased on Amazon, at the end of last summer.
We love to entertain and with Olivia’s wedding next year we might have quite a few guests over. We traveled so much this past summer- we really didn’t sit out often, just an occasional dinner or drinks on the patio, but next summer will be different! I wish Emily Henderson would make a trip over to help me 🙂
