A weekend in Cleveland!

Went to Cleveland for the beer!

Wow, who knew?  Cleveland is amazing! We have planned this trip for awhile now just waiting to go when the Southern Tier Brewery finally opened. We arrived in Cleveland on Friday afternoon, checked into our hotel-the Cleveland Marriott Downtown at Key Tower. then proceeded to tour the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.  A wonderful museum full of artifacts and great trivia.  The hotel is absolutely beautiful!  Lots of people in the bar area all weekend.  It was an exciting mix of young and old enjoying cocktails and conversation. Taken for the Marriott website
Our room at the Marriott- the view of Lake Erie was spectacular.
 Comparing boobs with Dolly :0)
We played a few pinball games while there.
 Lots of Supreme’s dresses.
Actual hand written lyrics from the artists.
Dave’s favorite band is The Who and he was pleased to see the huge Who display.
Missing Aretha now that she is gone.
The Who and Sigar (Simon and Garfunkel, another one of Dave’s favorites) were inducted into the Hall of Fame the same year, 1990.
Silly Dave pretending he is Dick Clark. 🙂
In the evening we met friends from our July Viking River cruise at the Southern Tier Brewery.
Ordered flights of beer- they were all so good!
Dave drinking his tied for favorite beer in the world- Creme Brulee Stout- he was so happy to see it on the menu.
These people are so delightful!  We ate dinner with them each night on the cruise and they became our dear friends.  The young man is Sandy’s son, Riley.  He is a photographer working at Arhaus.  I plan to tap his brain on a good camera to purchase. 🙂
The beer was amazing and the food delicious!
I ordered the POWER GREEN salad with marinated kale and spinach topped with roasted garbanzo beans, heirloom cherry tomato, pumpkin seeds, red onion, tri-color quinoa, avocado, Citra Live strawberry vinaigrette.
Dave ordered the TAPROOM BURGER an all natural Black Angus beef with Provolone cheese,  lettuce, tomato, beer mustard, pretzel bun with French Fries.
My favorite beer for the night was the Pumking- Imperial Ale.  I could go for one right now.  I think I can find it here in Michigan at our local beer store- I will need to do that 🙂
On Saturday we rode our bikes 25 miles, with Dave’s co-worker Dan, on a beautifully paved trail through the Rocky River Linear Park. Dan is from the area and was our guide.
After that we were hungry so we split a Ruben sandwich from Slymans.  OMG it was the best ruben we have ever eaten.  So big we had to share!
Lots of memorabilia on the walls.
Once we fed our bellies we quickly showered and headed downtown for a quick walk around before we ended up at Southern Tier again for a Creme Brullee for Dave and a Pumking for me!  Yup, we couldn’t stay away. 🙂  We had tickets to a Wish You Were Here (Pink Floyd) show at The House of Blues.  We love Pink Floyd and these guys were very talented as a cover band.
Downtown Cleveland Theater District at night.
Cute restaurant area on 4th Street with shops, bars, and Hiliarities Comedy Club.
We are thinking we need to go back to Cleveland soon to go to Hilarities Comedy.  They have some good comedians coming soon!
On Sunday we awoke to fog but that didn’t stop us from taking a 3 mile run.  The Cleveland Browns were playing later that day and the tailgaters and crowds were huge. Honestly, there must have been thousands of tailgaters. We have never witnessed any tailgating of this magnitude! Detroit fans need to step it up:)
Lastly, we headed to Little Italy before setting sail (it was a wet enough weekend, I forgot to mention it rained everyday and even on our 25 mile bike ride) for home. Little Italy seemed like a nice destination for a meal, maybe next time it will make it on our list.
We hope you had a wonderful weekend!
Stats for week, 8 miles running last week, biking miles were 54.
