Festival of Trees in Midland, Michigan

ver the weekend we visited Midland to see the Festival of Trees.  The event lasted all weekend and was packed with people when we showed up on Saturday around 5:00 pm. The cost was $5.00 to enter and then you could purchase raffle tickets to put in boxes near the Christmas trees or wreaths you hoped to win at the end of the weekend.

If you win, they deliver the tree, set it up, and you get to keep it all- even the small gifts attached to the trees

Adorable cookies for sale 🙂

The money raised throughout the weekend supports the Junior League of the Great Lakes Bay Region’s mission of promoting voluntarism, training its members, and improving the community.

More than 100 designers contributed fabulously decorated trees and wreaths that were raffled off to lucky winners. In addition, local vendors were selling their specialties.

We had lots of fun there and sadly, we left with empty hands…no one from our group won a tree or wreath:(

After that, we ended up at Witchcraft Brewing in downtown Midland.  I had a flight of red wine and Dave enjoyed a Porter.

For dinner we ended up at the Molasses Smokehouse on Main Street. It’s a new barbecue restaurant in Midland and it was delicious.
All in all it was great to see Zach and Liv and to also spend time with Zach’s parents, Todd and Katie.
We stayed at the H Hotel in the heart of Midland and it was just beautiful.  It sits right next to the Pere Marquette Rail Trail and on Sunday we took a leisure run of 4 miles.  We included the Tridge Bridge which is a must see if you visit Midland.  You can see a video of the bridge here.
How was your weekend?  We are gearing up for a run on Thanksgiving and then enjoying a traditional turkey dinner while watching the Lions on TV!  Should be fun!!
Hope you have a wonderful holiday!
