Cyber Monday sales!

Hi friends!  Truth be told, it’s nice to get back to work today.  We enjoyed a wonderfully long weekend, but I really missed my routine for some reason.  I miss my time sitting at the Reference Desk.  I can usually get some personal searching done and that is what I have done today.  I emailed myself a list of bargains I found and then ordered them at lunch.  I have already ordered quite a few sale items today and now I can finally say I am done Christmas shopping for this year!!  Yup, all done.

That felt good to say!  I hope you are enjoying the savings as much as I am.  How was your Thanksgiving?  We had lots of fun running the Turkey Trot in Detroit and then hanging out at Campus Martius for a little while.  We got home in time for the Lions and I put the turkey breast in the oven for a 4:00 dinner.  Dave’s brother came over and hung with us all afternoon and enjoyed the Thanksgiving meal as well.

Seriously, it’s November already?

Wow, I can’t believe how quickly the weeks and months are flying by.  We were so busy this weekend and it all started with a comedian we love- are you familiar with Tom Papa??  On Friday night, I surprised Dave with tickets to his comedy show in downtown Detroit.  Tom Papa is one of Dave’s top three comedians and he has never seen him live.  When I caught wind he was coming to town I grabbed the tickets before he was sold out.

The venue was a place neither one of us had gone to- The Majestic Theater on Woodward Ave, located in the heart of mid-town.  It was a small venue which was perfect because there was not a bad seat in the house.  Tom Papa was hilarious! You can see him on Netflix or on YouTube. Prior to the show we had dinner at the HopCat- one of our favorites whenever we head downtown.

I had the Cobb salad (Keto friendly) and Dave enjoyed the Portobello Dip sandwich.  We both had a dark beer. I had a Dragon’s Milk from New Holland Brewery and Dave ordered a Tiramisu Stout from Ellison Brewery.

On Saturday Dave hung my lamps in the office/spare bedroom for me.  It’s been on the “Honey do List” for a while:) This room is taking shape and I can’t wait to share it with you.

And finally, I got to watch the grand-kids this weekend.  I went over there on Saturday morning and didn’t return till Monday mid-morning.  I was beat!  I forgot how busy two little ones are.  We played games and read books, played hide and seek, put puzzles together… it was so wonderful and I am grateful to be able to spend that much time with them.  Lauren and Christopher had a destination wedding to attend and I was so happy they asked me to help.
That’s it, busy as usual.  How was your weekend?  Did you watch the Lions lose?  What an upset!
Are you thinking holiday decorating yet?  Every blog I follow has already been talking about it.  We do loose six days between the holidays this year, so Christmas will seem earlier.  But truthfully, I can’t wait…I will be decorating a week before Thanksgiving and when our company comes over for their Thanksgiving dinner, they will be looking at a Christmas tree!
Enjoy the week-

Catching Up!

Happy new week Friends!  The sun is shining today and the temps are reaching the high 60’s!!  I ran this morning and I reached my goal- 5 1/2 miles!!  I was so happy to finally get over the 5-mile mark and still feel good.  My plan is to run a 1/2 marathon next summer and I should definitely make my goal. 😊

This weekend found us staying home and relaxing.  We rode bikes (14) miles Friday night and on Saturday we stayed in most of the day because of rain.  I read and Dave worked on the computer.  And of course, we caught-up on Shameless.  We are on season three and we are addicted– binge watching whenever we get a chance!

Monday Morning Catch-up!

Hi friends!  Can you believe summer is, well, almost over?? I am not ready to let go of the beautiful weather we are enjoying this summer in Michigan.  This weekend found us across the border again! We traveled to Blue Mountain in Ontario, Canada!

On the way to Blue Mountain we stopped by Grand Bend on Lake Huron.  It’s a wonderful tourist destination and just a few hours away from our house. I can’t believe I have never been there.  The beaches, shopping, and restaurants were super crowded.  I would like to spend some time there, but I would rather go in September when it slows down.

After a quick stop at a subway shoppe for lunch we were back on the road and heading toward Blue Mountain.  I’ll post on Wednesday the entire trip but here are some pics for you to enjoy!  It was Elvis Fest in Collingwood and Blue Mountain!  We could not have planned this surprise if we tried, I mean, I love Elvis and listening to the music brings back so many memories of my dad blasting Elvis in the car when we were kids.

Many Elvis impersonators walking around before they performed.

 An Elvis family 🙂

One of the many concerts we attended, all free, over the weekend!

Home safely and back to work and our routine.  This week is a busy one, but I will post our trip on Wednesday and tell you where we stayed and ate.

Exercise stats: ran 10 miles, biked 41 miles over the weekend

Enjoy the beautiful summer day,

Karen
