Go Greenville!

A co-worker of mine was always raving about Greenville, SC. So we finally decided to stop and see what all the fuss was about. After spending four days in downtown Greenville I was in total agreement. I was impressed with the excellent city planning and beauty of this bicycle, friendly college town. Traffic was never a problem in this easy to navigate city and everything was very walkable. The weather, in early March, was fantastic with highs consistently in the 70’s.

Downtown Greenville, such a beautiful city!
Main Street

There were plenty of great restaurants, breweries, bakeries, and shopping. The trail system was extensive and beautiful. We would walk, run, and bike them everyday. We rode the main trail to the northwest end one day (Traveler’s Rest) and to the southeast end another day.

Hall's Chop House - Downtown Greenville

Hall’s Chop House overlooking the water falls from their outdoor patio was an excellent choice for lunch. We both thoroughly enjoyed our filet’s, asparagus and bread!

Also downtown, we found the Grill Mark restaurant for an excellent salmon sandwich, the Old European Bakery had outstanding desserts (chocolate ganache cake), and the Fireforge Brewery had some really good beer (Imperial Stout and Winter Warmer).

The West End (downtown)

Southeast Greenville - Southeast end of the Swamp Rabbit Trail

Along the Swamp Rabbit Trail we stopped for lunch twice at the Swamp Rabbit Cafe and Grocery. They had an excellent turkey pesto baguette sandwich as well as some nice beer choices and anything else you would find in a grocery store. A really nice concept with high quality food choices.

The Southern Side Brewery – great outdoor space right off the Swamp Rabbit Trail

Also just out of downtown, along the Swamp Rabbit Trail (on the south side of the trail) was the Southern Side Brewery. Ā It had a fun, relaxing indoor and outdoor space with really good food and beer.

I’m sure this is not the last time we’ll see Greenville, South Carolina. Very impressed!
