Easy Saturday Morning!  This Saturday we decided to skip the Wayne State bike ride and stay home to just relax.  We have been going so much lately that some R & R was needed.  Plus it didn’t help that it was raining outside and biking in the rain is no fun.

So Dave decides to turn on one of his favorite albums of all time.  Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon and Garfunkel.  We listened to the entire album sitting huddled together on the couch.  Feet up, my head on his shoulder- while he explained each and every song 🙂 and totally relaxed.

Can’t think of a better way to start a weekend!

The first Beast of a Ride took place this weekend!  So much fun and a wonderful time spent with friends!  We camped at the River Ridge Resort in Stanwood, MI.  Probably by far the best RV park in Michigan.

There was so much to do there!  The link is below with some pictures from their website. We want to go back next year for the 2nd Beast of a Ride and stay additional days just to enjoy the park 🙂

The Beast!

On Saturday morning, after lots of coffee, we rode our bikes from Stanwood to Big Rapids. Round trip was about 35 miles, not too shabby.  The trail is part of the White Pine trail.  The part we rode on was mostly gravel but nearer to Big Rapids it was paved and much easier to ride on.

We ended up eating lunch in Big Rapids at an adorable little bar and grill called Schuberg’s Had some really good food and of course great conversation.   The rest of the day was spent in the pool over looking the Muskegon River and sitting around the campfire.

Mike made his infamous hamburgers and we thoroughly enjoyed the s’mores that Ann brought.

Sunday we decided not to bike, because one of our members wasn’t up to the task, so instead we tubed down the Muskegon River.  We enjoyed floating downstream for two hours with lots of laughter while drinking Petsokey Horny Monk beer- A great way to spend the afternoon!  Packed up the RV which took almost two full hours.  Crazy how big the beast is and how much work goes into securing a 5th wheel to prepare it for its trip home.  We will definitely do this trip again, but next year will be bike more, kayak, and spend one more day at the camp site.  Our goal was to bike 100 miles this weekend and we didn’t even come close.  Disappointed but OK because we had so much fun.  Like I said, next year we will make biking a priority and stay an extra day for relaxing.
