Catching Up!

Happy Monday Friends!  How was your weekend?  I hope the weather where you reside was just as beautiful as it was here in Michigan.  We were crazy busy- here is what we were up to!

Four empty glasses

On Friday we headed out to downtown Utica for the “Fork and Cork” festival.  There were lots of vendors selling their crafts and lots of beer and wine for sale.  Tons of food trucks were offering up some good-looking food, but we decided to drink at the Steampunk Tap Room because Dave found out they were selling CBS.  Yes, you read that correctly, they had barrels of Canadian
Breakfast Stout from Founder’s Brewery on tap and we were in heaven! We indulged for over an hour just loving the beer and the company.  Ann and Dave joined us, and we always have so much fun together.  Ann and I were cracking up over our conversation on massages and the one I received in Montreal- one for the record books- probably should have been reported. 🙂  The masseuse was a little friendly with his hands.   Anyway, after we enjoyed our beer we headed to the Muldoon’s Tavern for dinner.  The laughter kept up as we made plans for our Viking Cruise planned for next year.  After dinner we walked around and listened to the bands playing.  A good night had by all.

How to host a beer tasting party!

We have talked about having a beer tasting party for awhile now and we finally did it! We had a group of friends gather to try different types of beer.  If you know us well, than you know WE love beer.  Right now, in the grips of winter, we are loving all kinds of stouts.  Some of our favorites are Milkshake Stout from Rochester Mills Brewing, Creme Brulee for Southern Tier, and KBS, CBS, Dirty Bastard and Backwards Bastard from Founder’s Brewing.  So many stouts right now to choose from!  In the summer we move to the lighter beers, but in the colder months there is nothing better than a dark, thick, rich, and strong stout!

Blessed

Lauren turns 28 today.  It was Halloween night, 27 years ago, when my water broke and my husband rushed me to the hospital.  The next day, today, I gave birth to my beautiful daughter, Lauren.  She has been my pride and joy ever since.  I could not have loved anyone more than her, or so I thought, her sister came along almost five years later and I realized I had enough love stored in me to love two daughters equally.  I felt blessed.   And I still do.

Happy Birthday Lauren!

If you asked me to describe Lauren to you, I would do so in the following manner:

  • She was born Nov. 1 which means she is a Scorpio. While reading her horoscope today, something I never do, I discovered that Scorpios fall in love at first sight.  She did this in 9th grade while camping with the family.  She met Christopher, fell in love, told all of us she was going to marry him and even wrote out the wedding invitation. Eight years later she walked down the isle to marry him. 🙂
  • She is kind, considerate, patient.
  • She is faithful.
  • She is smart, funny, witty, organized.  She planned her entire wedding on a laptop in Germany while completing her student teaching.
  • She is a special education teacher who is loved by her students.
  • She is a wonderful mother to KJ- a curious 3 yr. old boy full of energy.
  • She is a wonderful daughter.
  • She is an older sister offering her guidance freely.
  • She is someone you would want to have a beer with, laugh with, confide in, and have as your best friend.

She is amazing and anyone who knows her would tell you the same.  That’s Lauren and I feel privileged to call her my daughter.

Update

Hi Friends.  I am sorry I missed posting on Friday but I had a funeral to attend and it is very difficult to post while I am so sad.  My friend has passed and now I miss her greatly.  I just saw her at Olivia’s wedding and we had such fun in the photo booth.  We were the Muskee Moms and we were very proud of our titles.  Diane is the beautiful blonde with the large green glasses- always ready to have fun and laugh.  Liver cancer took hold of her and would not let go.

I’ll check in tomorrow.
