Date night!

Last night we had such a lovely time at Sedona Taphouse in Troy, Michigan.

Our date night was planned, and originally we were going to ride our bikes to one of our favorite spots, Bigalora Cucina, but the forecast was looking sketchy, so we decided to drive to another favorite spot that Dave has really enjoyed with friends from work.  We ended up getting to Sedona early and enjoying their happy hour.  All wine bottles were half-off and certain beers were only $4.00 for a 12oz. pour.   I ended up with a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon, Dave enjoyed a few craft beers.  The food was delicious, salmon salad for me and beyond burger for Dave.  After dinner, we wandered over to Somerset Mall and walked off our meal.

Even though our house is quiet and date night really could be every night at our home, it’s still nice to plan an evening out together to sit at the bar and talk.  Nothing like a bar stool to get someone to open up and tell you what is on their mind.

When was the last time you planned a date night with your significant other?  I encourage you to do it often- it really helps the relationship.  We ended up holding hands and laughing. We also complained and got out our frustrations and we made future plans.  Bar stools force you to sit right next to each other and thereby have eye contact with the ability to sit shoulder to shoulder.  We talked and listened to each other without interruptions.  I felt heard and so did Dave.  I found an article that tells the importance of date night.
